The File Type Assistant from Trusted Software is a little helper application that kicks in when you try to open a file you do not have a viewer or player for. This is how it looks:

You can select either to visit the Trusted Software website where we offer safe and tested software that can open the type of file you need a viewer for, or you can let Windows handle it the way it normally does.

How do I get it?

You can download it here: tsasetup.exe or you may get it if you download and install other products from this and partner sites. It must always be disclosed in product EULAs if it also installs the File Type Assistant.

How do I uninstall it?

You can easily uninstall it through the normal Add/Remove Programs option in the Windows Control Panel.

Windows XP Users:
1) Click the Start Menu
2) Select Settings -> Control Panel
3) Select the Add or Remove Programs
4) Click on "File Type Assistant" in the "Currently Installed Programs" list
5) Click the Remove button

Vista and Windows 7 Users:
1) Click the Start Menu
2) Click on Control Panel
3) Under the Programs heading, click "Uninstall a program"
4) Click on "File Type Assistant" in the "Programs and Features" list
5) Click on Uninstall above the list
